|

I'm running PDFDownload 3.0.0.1 on FF 3.5.3. Although I have "Show popup dialog" set as my "Default Action", PDFDownload never shows me the dialog -- it simply downloads the .pdf EVERY time. This problem first appeared (for me) in the last version; I saw a recommendation on this forum then to disable, exit Firefox, enter Firefox, re-enable and see if it works. It did... until the upgrade. I've tried the same "fix" this time and it does NOT work. When the issue first came up last version, the response was that a fix was being worked on -- what ever happened with that?
Anybody else experiencing this problem?
Thank you!
P.S. -- Still love the product, but REALLY want this to work again! |

This is nothing more that a way to get you to do something that you don't want to do, which will probably have no effect, and which may even cause the rotation of the earth to reverse.
Seriously, I have no idea if this will help, but I think it is something worth having someone having problems, such as yourself, to investigate.
In your Firefox Profile, there is a file, prefs.js. In my prefs.js, there are four entries which have "pdf" in them; they all refer specifcally to the PDFDownload extension.
As PDFDownload 3.x is working fine for me, I don't want to take the time to experiment, as that might not prove anything--and, if you do take the time, that also might not prove anything.
So, if you're willing:
Delete PDFDownload, close Firefox, then look at your prefs.js, see if there are still any entries there for the extension. If there are, delete them, save the file, restart FF, reinstall PDF, see if that fixes anything.
Again, I stress that I don't know if there's any validity to my suggestion; however, it is based on many years of FF beta-testing (both program and extensions), and having found, a few times, that "left-over" prefs.js entries have caused problems. Not a frequent occurrence, just something that has happened. |

I am using Firefox 3.0.15 pdf download hasn't given me a pop-up since 3.0.14 so somewhere else in the forums is an address to download older edition once installed it worked again. version 3 seems broken. I uninstalled reinstalled turned all off and back on again before going to older edition. I will not upgrade to Firefox 3.5 until all my addons work.
