Dear developer team,

recently I found that my PDF download has been updated from 2.2.x.x to 3.0.0.1.

First, I noticed the unwanted status bar icon, which I personally find a little bit disturbing. But, as you already stated that you plan to make it removable in the next version, I am not going to complain about this issue..... Smile

Instead, I have found an issue that is much more annoying than the unwanted status bar icon: Whenever I select some text on a web page, and then right-click to copy it, the first item in the context menu is "Save Page as PDF..." (or the German equivalent here).

Before version 3.0.0.x, in the right-click menu of normal (no-link), selected text, the "Save as PDF" item was not there at all.

Here is an illustration of the behavior:

PDF Download 2.x.x.x:

PDF Download 3.0.0.x:

This is extremely annoying, as I very often just select (highlight) text, then right-click and select just the first menu item, assuming it is "Copy". With PDF Download 3.0.0.x installed, I unwantedly triggered the "Save as PDF" function 20 times or so at one day....

It only happens when text is selected. If no text is selected, the context menu looks as before (where the "Save as PDF" item was already present, and is not the first item). Only in the highlighted-text-context menu, it was not present before, but is now.

I also found that on some PCs, this issue does not occur. It seems to depend whether other extensions that modify the context menu are installed (such as IETab or AllInOne-Gestures).

It would be great if you could fix this! Because of this issue, I temporarily uninstalled PDF Download from 3 PCs until it is fixed. It is extremely disturbing in my daily work. Furthermore, I find this more annoying than the new status bar icon.

Thank you for your time and your consideration!

Best regards,
kzuse

Anything new on this issue? At least a confirmation of one of the team members that it is being looked into this? Sad

I concur with your opinions

On the options of PDFDownload I have unchecked both options for the firefox menu.... yet for some reason PDFDownload still appears in my menus - now why is that?

In addition PDFDownload appears in the context menu. There should be an option to disable this functionality as well - and functionality that works

The ONLY reason I would want PDFDownload is to bypass the Adobe PDF Plugin (and rarely open in the Adobe PDF Plugin) - THAT'S IT

Please fix this in the next version where you also fix the status bar issue
